Garment Recyling

X-Ray Garment Recycling

Part of being a full service x-ray garment company means also helping customers with garment disposal and recycling needs. X-ray protective garments have historically contained heavy metals, including lead.  Lead is included in the Toxic Substances List under the Environmental Protection Act Registry and it should not be disposed of as conventional garbage, but rather as hazardous waste. When disposed of improperly, such materials pose contamination concerns for the environment.
  • We could recommend that you check your state’s regulations regarding the disposal of heavy metals and hazardous materials…
  • We could recommend that you contact your local metal recycling plant and scrapyard to inquire of their policies with regards to whether or not they would accept such lead containing garments…
  • We could recommend that you contact your local EPA office or seek consultation from your local representative from the Department of Environmental Affairs office…
Or We Can Make It Easy For You!
We know you have enough headaches to deal with on a day-to-day basis, so how about we make this simple for you and say, “Just send it to us and we’ll take care of it for you!”
If you are purchasing a new replacement garment through RCS, we will recycle the old garment for a fee of $25.00 each.

If you are opting to purchase your replacement garment elsewhere, we will still recycle the old garment for a fee of $75.00 each.

SHIPPING LABEL – Please just drop Kathy an e-mail at kheier@radcareservices.com, request a shipping label and we’ll take it from there to make this smooth and painless for you!

Our environment today faces plenty of challenges, so it is our pleasure to help you do the right thing in terms of garment disposal and recycling.

SHAMELESS PLUG –  We do sell lead-free garments that are light weight and more comfortable to wear than the traditional, bulky, lead containing garments. The lead free garments that we provide are environmentally friendly and do not need to be recycled…yes, these garments can be disposed of in the trash can!
